Artist Bio

Pooja Roy is a fine artist, who mostly works with Acrylics on stretched canvases and wood panels, from tiny 5”x7” pieces to extra large statements. Having grown up in various parts of the world, she has had the opportunity to experience a wide variety of cultures, lifestyles and soak up the uniqueness and beauty of each of her surroundings. This has stemmed her appreciation for art, capturing every detailed human connection to land, nature and its elements that unite us.

Pooja has always been a creative as a child. She found her artistic abilities with paintbrushes as a Junior in High School, where she started her informal training and practices. But later, she moved onto pursuing a career in Engineering as she ventured into obtaining a Bachelors in Chemical Engineering from University of Minnesota, and a Masters in Chemical Engineering from SUNY Buffalo. Art took a step back in those periods, with a sprinkle of few Art Classes as Electives here and there. But Engineering job offered her the opportunity to travel, which fueled her creative passion, taking in all the images and inspirations through the lenses of her portable cameras.

After years of practicing art as a hobby, Pooja decided to turn her passion into a legitimate business only in 2020, while laying down the roots and raising her family down South in Greensboro, NC. She started selling her paintings online through Etsy, Instagram and Facebook and also through few local shops in Jamestown, and Thomasville, NC. She has also been exploring her painting skills with other mediums such as Oils and watercolors, and learning the tactics of running a creative business from other established artists such as Emily Jeffords and Allie Dattilio.

This amalgamation of creative and analytical mindset has shaped Pooja into an artist, who thrives off of challenging both sides of her brain, pushing the limits of her palette and paintbrush, and exploring strategy as an entrepreneur.

Artist Statement

I feel most at peace when I am in my studio, immersed into creating something beautiful. Painting helps me meditate and bring me closer to the beauty of the natural world – from colorful florals to the vastness of a landscape or waterscape and everything in between. Having based in North Carolina for the past 8 years, I have grown to appreciate the bounty of the countryside and an affinity of capturing those scenes into my canvases. I take great pleasure exploring a mixture of colors and working detailed representation of the beauty encompassing us. It is my goal to define and point out every minute details of this great expanse under the sky, while conveying a feeling of peace and joy to my collectors through my paintings.

And nothing brings me more joy than knowing that my artwork invokes a feeling, an emotion and a personality when displayed in a space, adding to its aesthetics and exuding an aura of positivity.
